What were they looking at?

So, a couple of my regular visitors (Karen and Alexia) pondered what the three figures in the derelict building were looking at out there.  Which got me to wondering the same thing.  I took a drive out to the Great Salt Lake this morning to see what I could see, and maybe what they were looking at.  Here are some of the possibilities:

Maybe they were looking out the opposite door at a pile that looks like the remains of an old water slide?

Or these eyes looking back at them from the opposite wall?

Or this sad looking guy with the pale face?

Or, (shiver), this guy who I’d hate to meet out there on a foggy day.

Though they were probably checking out all the graffiti that covered every wall inside. And did I mention that it was a foggy day out on the shore of the Great Salt Lake?

It started to clear up as I got further away from the lake, but the fog left it’s mark on these trees. You can click on any one of these pictures to get a bigger view of it, or you can take the link to the album with the rest of the pictures from today’s trip out to the shore.

Well, I can’t tell you what they were looking at, but at least I can show you what they saw.

Urban exploring!
Great, now you've got me wanting to go.

I notice this place has the same interior decorator as that motel we visited in Thompson.

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. Urban-Gangsta-Graffiti style interior decorators.

Wow - impressive dedication to answering followers' questions. And on such a cold, misty day, too.

The bonus for us was that you came away with some amazing pictures to post. The graffiti ones are great, and I especially love the one of the building and carriage in the mist, and the doorway (number 5)

Thanks, Max!

Hey, any excuse to go out hunting good pictures, that's what I say.

Oh my goodness looking at these great photos was almost like being there! How very cool! The day's weather appeared like something out of a S. King novel, but very inviting! Some of the artwork was a bit over the top for me, but also some really creative stuff too. Your adventure today, is what life is all about! Grab it while you can! Now I'm going to go look at more of them. Thanks for posting this Max!

The fog yesterday was kind of cozy, rather than creepy. Sometimes I just like the feeling of solitude that fog gives, the whole world exists in a small circle that follows you where you go. Glad you liked the pictures.

Mrs and I stopped by this location for a photo shoot ourselves, I will try to get some pics up for this on my blog tonight. When we stopped by I myself pondered what would this building be for. After some exploring, and later asking around I was told, and by what source I cannot remember, that this building was a power station that was used to power the old Saltaire during all it's glory. Now keep in mind, this is not a verified statement, but I find it believable. I find the burned out train car next to this building intriguing, and think it makes for a great location for photos. What I do appreciate is that the government has not found it in their interest to either fence off, or destroy and remove, these relics. They are a grand place for people to display their artistic abilities. I will see if I can find the photos from my last trip out there.

The sad thing is that it is now fenced and gated, with a big "No Trespassing" sign on the gate.

Hmmm, funny, I don't see the fence in the pictures you JUST took. You must have jumped it though.

Funny thing is, and this is a true story, that when I got there, there wasn't even a fence. Man, was I surprised to find myself fenced in when I got back towards the car. I had to jump over the gate just to get out so I wouldn't be trespassing any more. Honest truth! I had no idea I'd been in there taking pictures that long.

Anybody who believe Max's last comment run around in circles and yell "Mamma don't want none" in the middle of the local mall.
Anyhow, as promised, here are a few of my photos from the same building.

Mr. - I could be wrong, but I get just the slightest inkling that you don't believe me.
