Playing with (very little) light.

I love taking pictures in the dark.  Not only is it challenging, but because of long exposure times you get some cool effects.  Thursday night our Science Department sponsored it’s annual “Star Party” out on the athletic field.  I decided to bring my camera and see what I could get.  Keep in mind that the field was kept dark enough for star gazing.  Here some of the better ones:

A star party! What a fun idea! I wish our school could do something like that, but the demographics make it such that it's possible at your school but not at mine. Ah well. It looks like a great activity. Glad you had fun.

I love the ghostlike artifacts created by the combination of long exposure and movement. I wish more people appreciated the joys of low-light photography.

Now where's my tripod...?

How long were those exposures? Or did you vary them?

I like the ones with the equipment out in the field - very ghost-like!

Gilly - I varied it quite a bit. The first couple I set the shutter to 30 seconds, the others rage from 5 seconds to 15 seconds. Glad you liked them.
