Let them eat cake…

Those of you who have taught with me will find this hard to believe, but sometimes I get just a little bit goofy.  And sometimes it happens in class.
Today was one of those days.  It was a student’s birthday and as she was leaving lunch she asked me if I could hold her cake (or what was left thereof) in my class.  This was before 3rd period, and she happened to be in my last class of the day (4th).  Halfway through the class she said something about the cake, and several kids asked for some. I, just kidding at this time, said something about smearing it in their face.  One kid took me up on this, and then actually asked me to put it on YouTube so he could show it to his friends.  Well, here it is.

Fantastic - what a great teacher you must be, Max, to have this kind of rapport with kids. it's fantastic when we can have fun with students and also respect each other.

And thank you so much for your supportive comments on my posts.

Because when you're in junior high, having your teacher smear cake all over you and putting it up for the entire world to see is like the coolest thing ever! Of course!
Adults who don't work with junior high kids probably are confused as to why this is so, but I understand perfectly.

My favorite is the ad for cake decorating classes that plays along with your video. It seems to imply that you are the cake decorator teaching a class with this video. Hey, I think I'd do okay in that cake decorating course!

Thanks to all, glad you found the video funny. The overhead was still on because, ironically, there were still students working on the assignment. And first thing this morning the kid was at my door asking if I had put it up and what the link to it was. Sometimes, I just love my job.

And well you should love your job, this was so delightful! The second smear job was so much more creamy than the first....and having math passing through it all just spelled MATH Teacher gone mad! What were all the black things on the floor? Part of the decorations on the cake? A very priceless video by Max! Thanks!

Yeah, the first try was mostly cake, the second try I simply scraped a handful of the whipped cream frosting off the cake. That was a lot more fun, especially since it came with a handful of the blueberries that were on top of the cake. That's what those black things on the floor are.
