Deep in the bowels of Lake Michigan.

Gordon Lightfoot immortalized it in the beautiful ballad “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”.  Until recently, I assumed it happened long ago, probably early 1900’s.  Nope.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.  The actual wreck, not the song.  I was 15 when it happened, old enough that I probably watched the news about it on TV.

So, here’s to the 29 people that perished in that wreck, and the families they left behind.

I didn't know it was that recently either. I guess that's because the song has the same type of feel as an old sea shanty.....
