Stats.

Just over a month ago, blogger added a new feature.  If you go to your Dashboard you’ll see at the end of the links for each of your blogs a new link: Stats.

A lot of cool, useless information on who is checking out your blog.  Once you click on Stats you’ll see 4 different choices:

  1. OVERVIEW: Just what it says, an overview of the other 3 choices.
  2. POSTS: Lists the most viewed posts for the time chosen time period (you can choose Now, Day, Week, Month and All time)
  3. TRAFFIC SOURCES: Really boring stuff – the most common referring URL and sites.
  4. AUDIENCE: My personal favorite. – gives you an idea of where people who get on your blog are from.

My biggest audience is, understandably and by far, from the United States (2,423 page views since they started keeping track a month and a half ago.)  I’m not nearly as popular in Canada (60), Netherlands (38), Luxembourg (30) and Germany (22) rounding off the top 5 for all time.  This week I’ve been pretty popular in the Czech Republic (15) but despite being the second highest it’s still way behind the U.S. with 353.

Now, my all time most favorite post is Of Kaffeeklatsches and JNCO jeans... with 223 views (these do not count when you read the post from the main page, only when someone clicks on the link for that specific post).  The most popular for this week was WAL-MARTIANS! Run for your life…. with 26 views and today’s favorite was Duped, the Saga continues… (15) with 5 people still checking out the all time favorite Of Kaffeeklatsches and JNCO jeans... today alone.

Interesting? I dunno, but for me it is.  Important? Nah.  But chances are good that I’ll keep you informed on any changes in the all time favorite post and foreign country and weekly favorites updates.  Just because I’m a statistics nut.

I don't see this feature on my dashboard, how do I get it?

I was wondering why on earth I'd never noticed this before, so I went and checked. I'd never noticed because it's not there on my dashboard. Apparently, this feature doesn't work with a Safari browser. (And my current computer's only a year old.) Either that, or the people at blogger don't like me as much as they like you.
And now I'll never know how many people in the Czech Republic have seen my blog...... which I'd actually like to know.
I can pretty well guess which post of mine has had the most views. I wrote one a couple of years ago entitled Twilight and the Total Eclipse of Women; it was about how sexist the first three Twilight books are (the 4th one wasn't out then). I got comments on that thing for well over a year afterward. It was insane how people kept finding it.

Well, maybe sometime I can come over to your place and log in on blogger to see my stats.

Just to be sure, I updated to the most current version of Safari -- and still no stats. I also noticed that my other blog, Bravely Spiral Bound, has no "comment" option next to it. I guess that's because no one has commented on the blog in over a year. Maybe I've had no stats whatsoever in the past year....

One thing you both might check is if your default Dashboard is "Blogger in Draft". If you go back to the screen capture picture on the original post and look at the top there's a check box that says "Make Blogger in Draft my default dashboard." I don't remember how, but I do remember choosing this option at one point because it meant that I'd get to try out the new stuff before it was put out globally.

You don't need to publish this comment, but my Day 7 post from my trip has some pics that I think you'll really like. Just sayin'....

Hello Max. Thanks for the information about "Stats". Unfortunately, my dashboard hasn't been updated yet, so it isn't available yet on either of my blog sites. I'm looking forward to seeing my "Stats" whenever it comes.

Hello Max. Super Tech Guy. I found the "Stats" link. I found it at the bottom of my dashboard page in the "Tools and Resources" section. Thanks for the point in the right direction.

Oh, I should also thank you for the traffic you've directed to my blog. According to the stats, you were responsible for 34 referrals to my site (the largest) number. Jeff was second with 23 referrals. After that, all the rest came from me (I guess from editing). This is very interesting....

....also very scary!!!
