In a parallel universe…

Parallelism.  The theme for the week over at:

Seems like everywhere I look there are parallels.  My house and the house two doors down look like they were made from the same cookie-cutter plan back in 1912.  Almost half the streets in my city are parallel to each other, the other half parallel also but perpendicular to the first half.

But for this set, I’m going to with a wrought iron fence around the parking lot at an old elementary school, which is now offices for Westminster College,

the shelving holding the mess in my carport build onto the garage (I was going to clean it out this summer),

and my new classroom (before the kids showed up).

Click on the banner above and go check out all the other parallels in this universe.  And add your own too.

Uh, how to the kids get in and out of the right-hand desks in each pair if you have them in this formation?

Surprisingly easily. Some of them just hop over the bar, others slide it out, get in and then slide it back.
I've never done it this way before, the teacher who was in the room last year had it set up this way. I figured I'd try it and see how it worked. So far, so good, but I'm prepared to change it if problems arise.

Your new classroom looks great - very clean and functional.

Love those railings! I tried something like that but didn't do nearly so well as you!

Maybe the teacher put the stroppy kids in the RH desks??

Certainly lots of parallells everywhere in our world. You have some great examples.

Your classroom appears to be bright and airy. Seems like a large class though based on the number of desk I can count.

Nice parallels, Max.

Alexia - I love the new room. It doesn't have the fantastic view the last one did, but since it's facing west I don't have to keep the blinds down all morning like I did in the old one.

Gilly - Getting railings right is hard, I just got lucky on that shot.

Rita - I've got 38 desks in the room, but my largest class is 35. In Utah, that's actually a nice sized class, I've had math classes with up to 42 kids in it, and I've seen P.E. classes with 75.

thunder - Seems I never get everything done that I plan for summer. Oh well, there's always next one.

This theme seems to have caused me to notice things lined up (aka parallel). But I think I like the crispness of the lines ;)
