More Moons

We have a camera pointing out the window in our studio for the school’s morning announcements.  It’s what we stream out to everyone for the five minutes before class starts, so teachers will have something showing so they can tell if the stream is working or not.

Today we zoomed in on the (almost) full moon.  One of my tech crew noticed that we could actually see the moon moving, and since the program saves the entire stream, here’s the video – at normal speed.

And here it is at 8 times as fast.

Moons

On the way back from Arches back in October, I stopped to take some pictures of the moon.  I took pictures at different light levels, to get different shades of the moon and to get detail in the landscape.  The only altering I did to these photos was to blend two together.

The Original:

The “cut out the moon and replace it” ones:

The blended ones:

Arches and Alta

I got these shots this morning before the first session of the day.

And here’s the modern-day technology shots of Arches from last weekend.

How to brighten your day.

At lunch a kid asks me “Do you know how to make a bad day better?”

“Ya do this,”he tells me as he tucks his arms into his short sleeves so that only his hands are out, flailing them around “and act like you’re a T-rex.  You can’t have a bad day when you’re acting like a T-rex.”

I told the Vice-Principal the story and then warned him “If a parent ever calls saying I’m losing my mind and walking around like a T-rex, just tell them I’m improving my day.”

And here’s a harvest moon over my school.  For those of you who think “Oh, that’s got to be photoshopped”, you’re right.  I took three pictures, one to get the moon, one to get the sky and one to get the school at their best.  Then I layered them and took away the bad parts so that only the best of the three things showed.

Smokey Moon.

A couple days ago I posted some pictures of the smokey sunset.  Tonight I looked up at the moon and noticed that it looked like it was made out of chocolate, instead of cheese.  I took a few pictures at different shutter speeds and couldn’t decided which one I liked the best.  So, I just decided to post them all.

Supermoon.

Tonight’s supermoon.  These have not been doctored in any way (other than cropping the picture).
