One if by land…

Got a text from a friend of mine that I infected with the old car bug about 20 years ago.  She used to view cars much like a refrigerator, simply an appliance to do a job for humans.

Then I bought my 1970 Ford LTD Convertible, and she was hooked.  Now she owns her daily driver and a 1973 MGB (like the one in the gallery above) and a 1980’s convertible Rabbit.

Anyway, she was telling me about a British car show down at Liberty Park.  So I figured, what better way to celebrate my last weekend before us teachers have to start showing up at school, than to go look at a bunch of cool British vehicles.

Here are the pictures.  The first set is completely of the 1973 MGB that I took for my friend to motivate her on the restoration of her’s.  The second set are the 80 best of the 550 pictures I took there.  And special thanks to my little brother, Mr. Gearhead, who showed me how to take more interesting pictures of cars, just by doing it himself.

Wow Max great car show, and what a lovely presentation too! It felt like being there myself...very cool, and actually sorry to hear your summer is quickly coming to an end.....although I know you are probably really excited! Have a great rest of the weekend!

I'm not sure what I did, Max, but I am glad that I inspired you. Those are some nice photos.

you just took pictures from different angles and then showed them to me. I saw how good they looked and started trying it myself.

I've always had a thing for MGs because they were attainable for those with the time and the inclination to keep them on the road. I'd still go for one if I could find one. More realistically, I see a Miata in my future. Working on my wife, as we speak :)

Carmi - I've always loved the Mazda Miata, even thought of buying one once, but sitting in it made me decide otherwise. Not that the car felt bad or anything, it was just too small for me. Being just 6' tall, the bar on top of the windshield was right at my eye level. I would have had to drive it with the seat back almost horizontal, or with the top down and looking over the windshield. I was a little bit bummed, but ended up buying a 1990 Chrysler LeBaron
convertible instead.
