Back of Beyond at it's best......

3 brothers and 3 Jeep Wagoneers, ranging from 1965 to 1985. What a lot of fun that was, cruisin' around the dirt roads on BLM land, camping wherever we stopped for the night. The Jeeps are gone now and the BLM is a lot stricter (more strict? increased strickedness? have maximized their strictiosity?) so for the most part you can't just plop your tent anywhere you want. I can understand their point; there's a hell of a lot more people cruising around the area and we humans are a messy bunch. Slobs, if we're being truly honest. Anyway, just had to put the picture up here and reminisce. Thanks for listening....

An interesting trip down memory lane, and the photo definitely helped. However, I'm not familiar with BLM. I'm guessing some kind of local regulation organization.

Another bit of cultural divide between the east coast and here in the west. Somewhere around 62% of the land in Utah is owned by the federal government and about 45% is run by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). They are the branch of the U.S. Department of the Interior that manages really out in the middle of nowhere lands that aren't a part of the National Parks.

Thanks for the clarification.

No problem, I keep forgetting that what I take as common knowledge is not the same in NYC, or any big city for that matter. I'm just glad you ask so I can explain.
