Leapin' Lizards, Batman.

First day back at school went pretty well, it's kind of nice to see everyone again.  Just that after 2 weeks of sleeping in 'till noon, 5:30 in the morning is gruesome.  I did get a good laugh when I walked into the counseling center just in time to hear the one male S.B.O. say "and I'm wearing women's clothing."  Before I can say anything he looks at me and says "You always come in at the wrong time.", and I just walk away before I hear any more about his antics over the break.  (I found out later he was talking about a skit he's doing for the school dance at the end of the week.)
.
A couple of days ago I went down into the basement to get something out of the freezer and there, standing in the middle of the floor, is this little guy (see picture below).  Now, I've seen his kin out in the wilds of Duchesne all the time up at the property, but I've never seen an urban one.  How he got in the basement I have no idea, same for what he's been eating or doing down there for at least the 3 days I've known him.  I also have no idea what to do with him, other than leave him alone.  It's a little cold to set him free in the back yard, at least I think so.  So, until I know better, I've got a new pet.  I think I'll name him Platyrhinos.

Blogging & salad don’t mix….
Ok, I was eating while checking on the comments for this post when a flash of light glistening off a drop of oil on the piece of romaine lettuce I was just about eat distracted me and I hit “REJECT” instead of “ACCEPT”. Fortunately I get your comments beforehand in an email, so I’ll recreate them for everyone:
6:42 PM from A Paperback Writer:
“Better not let him meet the cat.”
6:43 PM from A Paperback Writer:
“Oh, and I'd imagine you have a few tasty spiders in your basement he's been sampling....”
7:24 from Jo:
“I wonder if he and Squishy would get along. If we move in together, Squishy gets to the top and your little buddy will have to stay in the basement; just so you know.”
And my responses:
Writer;
Not to worry, the cat is already banned from the basement. Since ¾ of it is still just crawlspace, dirt, I closed it off from her years ago because we disagreed on whether or not she could use it as a bathroom. As for the spiders, I have no doubt there is an abundant supply.
Jo;
I’d bet Platy would have no problem being stuck in the basement. Tasty spiders are harder to come by up here.

You know, your salad story reminds me of my favorite blogger (of the now-dark blog), Miss Snark.
She used to post "keyboard alert" warnings on the posts that were so funny they were likely to make people spew their coffee and ruin their keyboards.
Perhaps you need a "salad alert."

Oh, and "leapin' lizards" wasn't Robin to Batman; it was Lil' Orphan Annie.
Just in case you really wanted to know and/or cared.

I coulda sworn there was an episode where Lil' Orphan Annie met Batman, and that's what I was quoting. Y'know, the one where the Penguine kidnaps Annie and Daddy Warbucks, who is a personal friend of Bruce Wayne, asks for help getting her back alive. Yeah, that's it.
.
(That's my story, and I'm sticking with it!)

Oh, THAT episode! Silly me. I'd forgotten that one.
Well, it's been a few years, though (like about 3 decades) .....
Nice story. Yeah, you're pretty good at writing fiction, so don't harrass me too much about posting photos when you write "short" short stories like these.
;)

Ok, ok. Ya got me there. No more harassing you about pictures. I guess.
