Funny signs on the way to the Grand Canyon.

One of the things I did while I was in Phoenix was to go see the Grand Canyon.  I’d never seen it before, and figured it would be something nice to check off my non-existent bucket list.  I have to cull through the many pictures I took there before I post them, but for now I’m posting some of the funny things I saw on the way.

Yeah, I live in Bumble Bee.  That’s right next to Crown King.

Hey, my place or yours?
Where do you live?
On Bloody Basin Road.
Uh, think I’ll just go home alone.

I worked with a woman at the pizza place that used to like to call me Schneeb.  Why, I don’t know, but this sign reminded me of her.

We stopped in Flagstaff to get gas, this sign was right next door.  Seems to be some sort of paranormal/UFO convergence going on in the area.

The sign on the Men’s room door at the gas station where we filled up.  The Women’s room had the same sign, except the squirrel had make-up in her hand and the sign said “No Nuts”

Whipped cream canister in the alcohol aisle at the gas station.

Just in case you didn’t notice – it’s 36 proof whipped cream.

We drove on Route 66 through Flagstaff.

My road.

At a view point at the Grand Canyon.  Not much information here anymore.

“Pink Jeep Tours” will take you along the rim of the Grand Canyon.

65°F at 6:00 in the morning on the day I came home to…

…a forecasted high of 61°F.

Gee Max what a fun trip that had to be. As a child every summer we went by the Grand Canyon on the way to my grandfather's house in Arizona! It still seems to have it's worthy stops, and funny little odd things to brighten your day. Oh nuts, too, it may have been quite fun to send the night with all those creatures or Martians! Thanks for sharing this!

Did you happen to stumble across any old diners that they have redone on the old Route 66? They say there are parts where folks have dressed up the town like back in it's big day! I one day hope to check it all out again!

Karen - yeah, it was a fun trip. I'd never been to the Grand Canyon before and it was a great sight to see. We only traveled a mile or two on Rt66, so we didn't see any of the old diners that have been restored. One of these summers I'm going to take a road trip along Rt66, when I do you'll see pictures of the things I run into on my blog here.

Route 66, eh? I don't think I've actually been on it, sadly enough. I have been to the Grand Canyon, though.
Thanks for the signs; they were awesome.
And remember: cool temperatures help keep students content to be indoors during 4th quarter.

Lisa - You've got a point there. Cool weather does make for a calmer end of the school year. Now, if we could just arrange for it to be cool and raining Monday through Friday, and warm and sunny on the weekends...

I always enjoy looking at signs during long road trips because the amount of comedy gold found in some of them are pretty astonishing. Makes me wonder at who decides what to name a town and how they came up with it. By the way, I'm still trying to figure out what Quality Inn really wanted to say by “Martians Welcome”.

Retta - The only thing I can figure is that that area of Az is considered to have some kind of cosmic convergence. There were a lot of psychic and restaurants with extra-terrestrial themes there.
