Some people claim our economy is still struggling, but you can’t prove it by my neighborhood.
There are at least 8 recent construction sites within the 16 square blocks south of my house. All have been started or finished within the last 9 months. I went on a walk today and took pictures of all of the 8 I found. (1st picture is now, the square picture below it is from before, as seen on Google Maps.)

Sometimes I wonder if places like Mac and Dons don't spend too much money changing their look to draw more customers in? It seems to me that the outside of a place isn't where the magic or the draw lies, but the feel we get once we visit these places. For me it's the people and the interaction I get when I'm there. Call me silly but I'd rather visit the good old Mac and Dons the way it was in the beginning- and as a child I remember happy people, and today not always the case! Yikes!
I know what you mean. My dad was the king of "greasy spoons" on road trips. He hated chain restaurants and always stopped at the mom & pop places. Some of them looked pretty dumpy, but the food and service was always great. I still prefer them over Denny's or McDonalds.
Yes, but that particular McDonald's is the one that had the fire damage, isn't it? Nice comparisons, by the way.
Yup, that was the one that burned down, it's finally open again.
