The school TV's require hand-to-button channel changing, so, since my school VCR uses channel 3 and the DVD player uses ch. 4, I do this every time I use the TV. Until I bought the newest car in 2006, I had to crank the windows by hand -- and I prefer it. I always open the garage door by hand since it's the only way to do it. I do still own one wind up watch, but I haven't worn it in about a year. And, no one gets busy signals now: you get "The line is busy. For a small fee, Qwest will continue to try this number....." and then you hang up in disgust.
Paperback is right, I don't get a busy signal. The phones just rings until the automated operator picks up....or it sends through "push-button purgatory".

The only one that continues is the busy signal...that is before the automated operator...or the operator from a foreign country picks up the call.
