The sun sinking into a sea of wildfire smoke and smog, behind one lone cloud.

Trailer, cats, rainbow and a sunset.

About a year ago I got a trailer from a friend’s father.  He moved into a condo and didn’t have room to store it so he just gave it to me.  It was a rusted old International truck bed, with ratty old tires, made into a trailer.

Well, yesterday I got it two brand new tires and $30 of paint.

Looks a little better, eh?

And today I hooked it up to the Jeep and put it back on the side of the house.

Then I went back into the house and joined the cats in a strenuous workout of napping.

Finally ended the day with a trip to the park to get shots of the sunset.  But first I caught this one of a rainbow.

Sunset Tonight

out by Knolls, Utah.  That’s on I-80 right before you descend onto the salt flats out to Wendover.

Evolution of a cloud.

I went out to the Great Salt Lake to capture tonight’s sunset.  It wasn’t as spectacular as I had hoped, but there was one cloud that fascinated me.

…, sleep well and dream of large structures.*

*(Yes, that’s not an exact quote.)

At 420 feet (128 m) tall, the Church Office Building is the second tallest building in Salt Lake, and Utah for that matter.   The Wells-Fargo Center is a whopping 2 feet (.6 m) taller, despite having 4 fewer floors, only because of the 2 heliports on top.

Built in 1973, it towered above the rest of the city until well into the 80’s, didn’t get beat out as tallest until 1998.

P.S. – You may not be a Utahn if… you have to ask what church I’m talking about.  You can find just about every religion on the planet here in Utah, but “the church” almost always refers to the LDS Church.

Wildfires make for beautiful sunsets.

About 40 miles (64km) southwest of us there is a 12,000 acre wildfire burning.  Since, for the most part, our weather pattern comes from the southwest, the smoke is funneling right into our valley.  Makes for hazy days and sore throats.  But also some nice sunset shots.  Here are some of mine from tonight.

Just for the record – I did absolutely no color enhancement on these at all.  Cropping, the frame and the copyright is all.
