Rough neighborhood.

The flooding in Salt Lake City during the spring of 1983 was certainly rough on the residents and businesses along 13th South.

The road was closed and sand and sandbags were piled all along the sides of the road.

It was rough on drivers, the sand blocked north-south traffic on several of the biggest streets in the city.

Sometimes you had to go 20 blocks out of your way to get to where you were going.

And it certainly was rough on businesses that relied on people stopping in for lunch on the way to their destination.

But leave it to the kids to find the silver lining.

These one is certainly not having a rough time of it.

Roughing it.

It’s called “roughing it”, but frankly the steaks we had the night before and the coffee that morning cooked over the campfire were far from suffering.

Havin’ a rough day?

The theme for this week’s Thematic Photographic is “rough”.  I decided to go with car problems that would make it a rough day. As I’ve said before, I started carrying a camera around with me everywhere I went during my senior year in high school.  These are all pictures of incidents I just stumbled upon and was lucky I had the camera with me.   Click on the banner to see more rough pictures, and if you have any of your own please join in.
