Marijke

Livingston, I presume?

Seagulls don’t have a great reputation.  They’re scavengers, flying rats, just one step above a pigeon.  But I don’t see them that way.  I kind of like their interplay of white, grey and black. Contrary to the reputation, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a seagull that looked dirty or haggard.

Anyway, in defense of the often maligned seagull, here are some in-flight pictures I took of the one that was eating a school lunch left out in the courtyard the other day.

Maybe not as majestic as the Eagle, but I always like the sight of a bird in flight.  Makes me wish I could fly.

Well, today was a good day…

Last week I applied for a half keyboarding, half math position at the school my principal at the high school was transferred to.  I sent the official Request For Transfer form in to the district and then emailed the principal letting her know that I would like to interview for the position.  I showed up for the interview, walked in to her office and sat down and she said “Here’s the interview. Do you want the job?”  I said “Yes” and she said “Good, it’s yours.”  Hardest interview EVER.

This is a good thing for a couple of reasons.  I’ve had a few issues with people at the school I’m at now, and one of the things I really liked about the high school was that I was not teaching all math, all day.  I really liked mixing it up a bit.

I told my current principal that I got the job, she has known for a while that I was going to look for something to do with teaching computers, and I told her when I applied for the position.  Plus, she’s retiring and moving to Hawaii anyway, so she congratulated me and wished me the best.

That’s all the details I can give on my public blog, but there’ll be more on my private blog “L’Adunata”.  (I’ve only had it a month or so, so if you are a regular visitor/commenter and want see what I keep out of the public eye because of educational politics, just leave a post with your email and I’ll add you.  I will not publish the post with your email in it.)
