Didn’t have to go far.

Right out my front door I could see why they chose Sunday.

Look to the south and they’re working in the road.

Look to the north and they’re working in the road.

And I think I was wrong about it having to do with the new construction.  When I walked by I saw them pulling out an old, rusty valve and there was a brand new one exactly the same size on the side by the hole.

Oh well, it was a good guess.

Gonna be a Stinky Sunday

I just went to the bathroom, flushed the toilet and watched the water flow.

I know.  You’re wondering why I’m blogging about such a mundane, daily and unappealing subject.

Because on Sunday I won’t be able to do that for around 8 hours.

I found this door hanger on my front door this evening.  Well, actually I got two of them, since my house has two front doors.

So tomorrow one of my chores is going to be to fill a bunch of buckets with water.  Because I can’t go 8 hours without going to the bathroom, and in the city they frown on using the bushes, even if they are in the back yard.

Just shoot me now.

Yesterday (Tue) was the day of hell. Broke everything in site. Started in the morning when I was rolling down the windows on Old Blue and broke a window crank. Went to lunch with a few people from school and broke one of my teeth, a molar in back that had had a root canal, so the tooth doesn't hurt but it's ragged and my tongue's a little sore. Broke my door key in the back door (this one I could have prevented, I've been meaning to replace it for a week or two). Opened the back door and heard water running in the basement, the hose to the swamp cooler had burst and there was over an inch of water down there. It was trash day and I tweaked my back so bad I can't even put my socks on. And, no, I didn't tweak it moving my huge recycling can full of paper from school, I did it picking up the trash can in my bedroom. The one with 4 tissues and an old pair of socks in it. I'd hoped the pain would go away overnight, but I ended up at the doctor's office today. X-Rays show that my spine is all fine and dandy, everything where it should be. Which means I basically sprained my back, pulled a muscle or tendon. Nothing to do except take it easy, and take some good pharmaceuticals so I can sleep. Fun day.

I had a spare doorhandle so I got that fixed, and a little piece of hose fixed the water to the swamp cooler. The basement isn't finished, still mostly dirt so the water just soaked into the ground and what was left evaporated. (I store everything there at least an inch off the floor because I've had water issues before). I have an appointment on monday to take care of the tooth - considering the back pain the tooth is no issue at all. My little brother has spare keys just because of key situations like this and, yeah my back hurts like hell whenever I bend over, but at least it's nothing serious. Always look on the bright side of life, do, do , duh dum, da, dum da, dum.....

Gateway and "Earth Spins off it's Axis"

Dan, Rae, the kids and I took Traxxxxx (how many x's are there supposed to be?) down to the Gateway to let the kids play in the fountain. At first Josh and Dylan didn't much care for it - ended up the kids watching the adults play in the fountain. Dylan finally did warm up to it - to the point of getting upset when we decided it was time to go get dinner. If you want to check out the pictures, click HERE.

"Hatch sides with committee Democrats in subpoena of White House, Cheney's office" or "Earth Spins off it's Axis, Devil Starts buying Long Underwear and Smoking proven to cure Lung Cancer"

I noticed an article in the Trib from a couple weeks back when I was cleaning up the newspapers for recycling. Couple of excerpts from the article:

The Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney's office Wednesday for documents relating to President Bush's controversial eavesdropping program that operated warrant-free for five years.

In fact, the Judiciary Committee's three most senior Republicans - Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, former chairman Orrin Hatch of Utah and Chuck Grassley of Iowa - sided with Democrats on the 13-3 vote last week to give Leahy the power to issue the subpoenas.

We're talking Orrin Hatch, the guy that whose nose was so far up Ronald Regan's rear that he found the guy's pollups. Regan could do no wrong. George Bush the First could do no wrong. And up until now G.W. seemed unable to do wrong. Man, if a Republican president can fall from Orrin Hatch's grace, he must be wallowing in one big mess.......
