Bad day gone good...

I have two brothers in my 3A period, the one from hell mentioned in my last post.  OB (older brother) is in 10th grade and YB (younger brother) is in 9th.  OB wasn't in class yesterday for the mess and this morning he apologized for, um, choosing to miss that day.  Seems YB ripped him a new one for not being there.  "Why?" I asked.  As the story goes, YB knew that OB would have kept the thieving little b...... from, as YB put it, disrespecting me by stealing from me.  Now the irony here is that neither one of them was willing to even confirm the name of the thief, let alone turn him in.  As a matter of fact, only two students were willing to name names, one of them was the student caught with the soda.  This is a definite high school dichotomy, wanting to prevent the theft but not willing to turn on a fellow student.  Unless my memory has failed me over the last 3 years, I remember it being a lot different in jr. high.  In a 9th grade class I would have had at least 3 or 4 students willingly name the student (after everyone was long gone, like after school).  8th grade would have a fourth to 3 fourths of the class naming the student, depending on how popular the particular student was, and of course after school or sometime when it couldn't be linked back to them.  7th grade, on the other hand, I would have had half the class tell me even before the period was over.  I exaggerate a little bit, but you get the idea.
Anyhoo, I've got a lock on the fridge now, and at least I know, in their own subtle ways, these kids are going to let thief-boy know it ain't appreciated.

Not a bad day.

The weather is great today.  I didn't need a coat on the way to school, turned the swamp cooler on vent (no water, just fan) to air out the house, and even took the convertible out for a drive.  Then I laid on the back porch in shorts and a t-shirt listening to the sounds of Sugarhouse, and just relaxed.  Niiiiice.  Good day.  And tomorrow is supposed to be nicer.  Maybe I'll drive the convertible to school?

A good day.

  1. I got the BattleCruiser back, front end fixed and new tires.  The old ones were worn, but also too bulky for the front end - made it wander too much.  The new tires are great.  It feels surefooted (for a car that size) now, and I even had it out in the snow, and it got up the driveway and into the carport, with a couple inches of snow, without any problem.

  2. Got the Subaru registered no problem also (expired the end of October).  It only took 15 minutes at JUST Emissions, and I spent that time at Albertsons shopping.  I saw them pulling the car out as I was walking back.  I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get the sticker, since I misplaced the new registration documents when setting up the new computer, but alas, they did the whole thing right there.  **She did suggest that once I got the sticker put on the license plate, that I put two diagonal cuts into it, since people seem to be desperate enough to steal them these days.  So I did it on all the cars.**

  3. And the biggest "Thank You, God!" item: I retreived all the payroll information from the crash.  I went out and bought the Vista version of the old payroll program I was using, installed it and decided to try finding the payroll data.  I didn't find the data, but I did find the backup data, and after a few hundred clicks it updated it and imported it!  Which means I don't have to spend the Holiday vacation recreating the information so I can print the W-2 forms next month.  That was a major cause of stress for me the last couple of weeks.
So, a good day.  Even the snow helped it.
