Utah, the Orange Barrel State.

Traveling in Utah by car means one thing: running into road construction.

The good thing is that the scenery is gorgeous and you rarely have nothing to look at while you’re stuck or simply slowed down..

  1. I have a friend who's part-owner of Utah Barricade. I like to think positive and remind myself that all those orange barrels mean that Cheryl's business is going well. :)

  2. Yeah! Like those - we have road construction and long lines of cars over here, too!

  3. yeah, it sure does mean a lot of that...in the good old summertime! Although, as much as I usually hate running into this-your photos of it rock!

  4. I've learnt something new - I just assumed that everywhere had cones. Barrels?? Do students do the "stop-the-car and-grab-one-for-my-bedroom" thing with barrels? They look quite a lot bigger than our cones.

  5. Alexia,
Occasionally, kids steal a few and use them to "decorate" some unsuspecting person's yard. Fortunately, a call to the company will bring folks to clean up the orange barrels if you are the victim. I've never heard of anyone stealing one for a real decoration, though.

  6. Orange barrels are also familiar to me whenever I visit Michigan in the summer time. I even showed a picture that included some this summer. A necessary evil, I suppose.

  7. Alexia, I think our big car (and truck) drivers need something more substantial than cones to keep them from running over the construction people.

  8. I wouldn't be able to drive there: the otherworldly scenery would be way too distracting. I love these scenes, as they remind me of growing up in Montreal, where road construction was the national sport. Awesome, awesome set!
