I worked both those days at the Chevron. We weren’t any busier than usual, but that didn’t stop these huge shopping days from effecting us.
When everybody and their mother-in-law’s second cousin are using their credit cards at the same time, it sure slows things down. Do you know how long 45 seconds seems when you have a customer standing there watching you watch the cash register and all it’s saying is “PLEASE WAIT”? A long time.
I know that in an academic game the five seconds that may elapse between the buzz and the player's answering of the question can seem an eternity.
ReplyDeleteI hear that. And to top it off it's always on days when they're all in a hurry to get nowhere (in the middle of that mess) and get ANGRY that you're so slow ... never realizing that it's the machines.
ReplyDeleteI better hush before I grinch out. I hate the commercialization of Christmas. I like a homemade holiday best.
I do! it's so cool when stores put silly things on display to occupy those long please wait moments...a gas station I often use has a fish tank (really real live fish) and it always captivates attention! except I hate it when our coffee shop posts a trivia question and some selfish person blurts out the answer! Grrrrrrrrrrr!
