Used to be you could go out there for a week and not see a single other soul. Not so much any more. But it's still beautiful and we try to get down there once a year for "winter camp", usually in April or early May. Not so many people down there then.Max Sartinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07271198231897203659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313795221042048302.post-62643880198881384292009-02-21T17:24:00.000-07:002009-02-21T17:24:00.000-07:00"Edward Abbey knew this and was smart enough to di..."Edward Abbey knew this and was smart enough to die before it happened."<BR/>Beautiful line there.<BR/><BR/>In 1973, we bought a 24 ft. Slickcraft soft top and spent many, many weekends at Powell. I hiked 8 miles to see Rainbow Bridge the first time. By 1988, the lake had become so crowded and so overrun by miserable jetskis (which sound like mosquitoes on amphetamines) that my parents sold the boat and gave up. But last spring they took a trip down to Bullfrog and stayed at a hotel (!!! -- there were no hotels there in the old days!!!). The photos they took of the rocks and water are disarming: the color has gone out of all the rocks. No more does the tremendous contrast of red and blue jump out at you. It simply isn't there now.A Paperback Writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10155962941590663738noreply@blogger.com
